Anti-virus software slows performance of Visual Assist

Some anti-virus software, e.g. McAfee, slows performance of the IDE while editing. If this seems the case for your environment, tell your anti-virus software to exclude from scanning the directory that contains the Visual Assist symbol database, history, and caches. You might also exclude your source directories from scanning.

The directory containing the Visual Assist symbol database varies by IDE.
