Compatibility with Windows 10

In the second half of 2017, Microsoft released several builds of Windows 10 with bugs that caused Visual Studio to crash when certain extensions, including Visual Assist, were installed. Microsoft subsequently updated Windows 10 to fix the bugs.

If your installation of Windows 10 is up to date, you have the fixes required by Visual Assist. No further reading is necessary.

Windows 10 Version 1709 (Fall Creators Update)

If you run the Fall Creators Update (FCU), released October 2017, you must run OS Build 16299.125 or newer. The update was released December 12, 2017, and includes fixes for a broken hook mechanism and CreateWindowEx() failure.

Windows 10 Version 1703

If you run Version 1703, released April 2017, you must run OS Build 15063.729 or newer. The update was released November 22, 2017, and includes a fix for a hook mechanism broken by an update released in September.
